ICRISAT - Flora & Fauna

The ICRISAT campus has some very unusual trees, beautiful flowers, and colorful birds. It feels odd, knowing that it's winter here, yet there are leaves on the most of the trees unlike the bare trees back in Minnesota.

Great gnarly tree

Yet Spring is coming - new leaves are growing, trees are in different stages of bloom, and cats in heat are prowling the campus at night, making their godawful screeching sound.

Humongous philodendrons

There are a lot of trees and animals I have yet to capture on "film" - such as the bats that flitter around at night, devouring mosquitoes near the lights. I, for one, am glad that they do their job so well. Two trees with rather fascinating blossoms are begging for their photos to be taken - one with a "prairie smoke" style of flower, the other with a unique, all-in-one flower - no separate petals - weird, but lovely.

While Mr. O grabs his afternoon siesta, I'll continue blogging...when he awakes, we'll head out to capture those trees and hopefully some wild peacocks up close.
